Description

Rare Karaboro animal fetish figure with four legs.
The wire core, covered in hide has a sphere on its underside.
Enclosing a sacred fetish, the bundle makes a slight rattling sound when shaken.
Largely animist, Karaboro fetishes are rare and rituals focus around bush spirits, ancestors and fetishes.
Rich encrustations of sacrificial natural matter, mid 20th century.
Collected in Burkina Faso.
