Antique Wodaabe embroidered indigo garment from Niger, worn by women during the Gerewol courtship festivities.
The handwoven cotton textile features finely executed chain and feather stitch embroidery in vivid red, white, and pale blue on deep indigo panels. The geometric motifs form a symbolic visual language associated with Wodaabe nomadic culture and identity.

The cloth was woven by skilled Hausa weavers from the Kano region of northern Nigeria, renowned for producing prestigious indigo-dyed textiles prized throughout the Sahel.

Mid-20th century.
Very good condition with beautiful age and patina.
Collected in Niger.
