Carved fully in the round, this small Bozo wood stool is beautifully cut out with angular forms.  The circular seat portion is richly patinated from usage.
The Bozo are an ethnic group of West Africa, living primarily along the Niger River in Mali, they are reputable fishermen, also called “masters of the river”.
The name Bozo is believed to have its origins from the Bambara language, bo-so, meaning “straw house”.
Rich patina, tribal used with age crack on base, mid 20th century – Collected in Mali.
