Bobo Bronze Currency Anklet, Burkina Faso

Anklets, along with a variety of other types of objects were recognised forms and used as currency in Africa..
This old Bobo bronze anklet was traditionally worn by women, though men also wore anklets, however, usually the heavier ones.
Created using the lost wax technique, the raised patterns have worn smooth with usage.
Rich warm patina, early 20th century – Collected in Burkina Faso.
