Description
This old warmly patinated brass ring surmounted by two cones is typically Dogon.
The symbolism of these cones is difficult to determine as it is believed that they could represent millet granaries or a woman’s breasts. In either case, this type of ring is a symbol of fertility.
Rich patina, early 20th century – Collected in Mali.
