Description
A Senufo brass amulet representing two bush spirits.
Figures with a triangular base or apron are characteristic of the Senufo from the Korhogo area. These amulets often without sexual attributes are worn by women and sometimes by men. They may hang free or be sewn onto a leather back, worn around the neck, upper arm or around the waist.
The diviner will prescribe such an amulet following visions he had while consulting with his client. The amulet will protect its wearer against the dangers that he may face with the bush spirits, as their mirror representation will give him protection.
