Venetian Tabular Millefiori Trade Beads, Late 19th Century

Price :

235.00 $

Description

This group of eight Venetian tabular millefiori glass beads dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century.

Produced in Venice for the African trade, these substantial beads display the colourful mosaic patterns created by the millefiori technique, in which sections of patterned glass canes were fused and shaped to form intricate decorative surfaces.

The beads exhibit a pleasing variety of designs and colours, including blue, red, white, green and yellow elements arranged in complex floral and geometric motifs.

The beads are in very good condition overall, with one bead displaying an old chip visible in the photographs.
The wear is consistent with age and use and does not detract from the visual appeal of the group.
