Tuareg Silver Ring with Symbols, Mali

Description

This old Tuareg silver amulet ring is adorned with geometric symbols.
Typically worn by men, this type of ring retains a traditional tabloid shape. 
Possessing a profuse repertoire of symbols, Tuareg jewelry from the Sahara, aside from being wonderfully decorative, is foremost characterized by its protective symbolism.
Silver is considered by the Tuareg “people of the desert” to be a pure metal, it is also the metal “blessed by the Prophet”.
It is typical that such old rings have the rear of their band “joined” as soldering tools were not available.
Nice patina of age and usage – Collected in Mali.
