Description
Tuareg copper amulet from the Iwellemmeden clan of Mali.
Fine repoussé geometric decoration adorns the copper sheet face. Backed with thin sheet metal; suspension loops are brass.
Iwellemmeden people, associated with the Kel Ataram or “people of the west,” form one of the principal Tuareg groups of the central Sahara.
Good age patina and signs of use.
Collected in Mali.
