Tuareg Silver Tcherot Amulet Container, Hoggar Algeria

Price :

350.00 $

Description

Tuareg tcherot amulet container in silver from the Hoggar region of Algeria.
This large example features a pyramidal tiered design with finely engraved geometric motifs arranged across the surface.

The container is adorned with five raised silver elements, including a prominent central boss. Copper wire wrapping decorates the four corners, while the reverse is fitted with a brass sheet backing.
Such containers traditionally held folded protective texts or amulets.

The surface displays striation marks resulting from polishing with sand, a traditional abrasive material commonly used in the Sahara. A well-developed patina and signs of wear are consistent with age and use.

Height: 7,7 cm
Width: 8,3 cm
