Description

This superb pair of silver ear contours are a fine example of a blend of west African sultures.
The Sarakole are one of the early ethnic group from Sub-Saharan West Africa to convert to Islam around the 10th century.
They inhabit eastern Senegal, northwestern Mali, Foute Djalon in Guinea as well as southern Mauritania.
The ear contours, shaped from a single piece of silver, are finely hand-chased and embellished with small rings that make a delicate rattling sound.
This pair will fit any ear lobe, can be adjusted and are very comfortable to wear.
Excellent patina, mid 20th century – Collected in Mali.
