Description

This old Tuareg metal cylinder lock from circa the mid 1900’s or earlier, is used to secure personal items of value contained in leather bags.
Handcrafted of steel and adorned with brass and copper overlay, such locks are used by both men and women to safely transport their moveable wealth.
An extremely complex lock mechanism that may only be opened using the metal key or asrou, specifically made for it.
This delicate old lock is in perfect working order, the braided red leather is a more recent addition.
Nice patina, mid 20th century – Collected in Niger.
