Description
Small forged iron altar figure depicting a bush cow, attributed to the Nuna peoples of Burkina Faso.
Such figures were traditionally placed at personal altars or village shrines in association with nature spirits and protective forces.
The horns and legs were separately forged and brazed to the body, showing the blacksmith’s construction technique.
Fine crusty oxidized surface and age wear.
