A richly patinated old Lobi wood slingshot or lance-pierre of phallus shape.
This type of slingshot is quite rare in form, however, as all slingshots, it was used in the hunt of smaller prey to supplement the diet.
The adorning subject forms an integral part of the function of the slingshot.
Slingshots are usually carved by the father of the young boy and are handed down from father to son. Wealthier families would commission a professional carver to carve one or numerous slingshots for them.
The variety of subjects is vast and varied, yet all are believed to hold talismanic powers, bringing its owner luck in the hunt.
These objects, have, with time, become a sought-after objects by collectors.
