Islamic and amazonite beads make a perfect combination in this stand.
The translucent blue Islamic glass beads, (10th to 12th century) are from Mali.
The large ancient tabular amazonite stone beads are from Niger.
These beads have schorl and quartz inclusions in the matrix, giving them a nice texture.
Centuries ago, such beads were traded with a variety of other goods, along the ancient trans-Sahara caravan routes.
