About Holari glass trade beads:
These moulded Bohemian glass amulet beads were produced for the West African trade during the late 19th and early 20th century.
They are associated particularly with Fulani adornment traditions across Mali and the Sahel, where they were worn as necklace elements alongside other beads, such as amber and Venetian trade beads. Their elongated cartouche form reflects Islamic aesthetic influence, while the suspension loop allowed the beads to cluster dynamically when strung.
Examples with soft surface wear and patina are increasingly sought after by collectors of African trade beads and ethnographic jewelry.
