Bracelets with spikes exist among the Fra Fra, Kassena, Bwa and Lobi ethnic groups of Burkina Faso. The decorative elements may vary but the general style remains.
This special piece has a superb patina with soil encrustations.

About the BOBO FING
The Bobo Fing ethnic group are part of the lager ethnic group known as the Bobo.
They occupy an area in the western part of Burkina Faso, that extends to the eastern Mali.
As a Mande speaking agricultural people, their social life is around lineages and village elders rather than around central chiefs.
The Bobo Fing carve masks that reinforce the powers of their natural surroundings. Their masks relate to fertility, the earth, rain, animals and the protective powers of ancestor spirits.
Bobo Fing masks are generally large and imposing in size and decorated with geometric patterns.They are also known for their metalwork and they produce bonze pendants,bracelets, rings as well as figures, both animal and human.
