Description
Ancient Nila patinated beads, some displaying a beautiful iridescence.
Traded along the ancient caravan routes linking Gao, Timbuktu and Djenné, these glass beads are approximately 800 years old.
Centuries of burial in the desert sands have produced their distinctive weathered surface and characteristic white patina.
Some beads have minor chips.
Collected in Mali.
