Description

Inland Niger River Delta pottery figure of a female figure..
Clay figures are rare as they are fragile and often only fragments are recovered.
This figure, though previously broken has been carefully pieced together, however,  on of the breasts is absent.
The underside is shaped with a curved ridge, allowing the figure to sit properly.
There is a strong supposition that the figure had served as a fetish or as a ritual object.
Collected in the region of Léré, Mali.
