Ancient Granite Stone Beads Strand, Mali

Description

The ancient granite beads making up this superb strand are from Mali and may originate from the area of the Dogon Cliffs.
Granite is a relatively hard stone and these beads would have required a considerable investment of time and effort to shape, polish the smooth surfaces and bow drill the hole in each bead. 
The lengths of these tapered beads range from 10 mm to 28 mm and 4 mm to 15 mm in diameter.
Excellent condition – Collected in Mali.
