Description
A strand of 29 ancient drop-shaped and faceted carnelian and agate beads, over 2000 years old.
They are likely, some of the earliest beads of this type intended for trade to Africa , some 2500 years ago, with possible origins Khambhat (Cambay) India.
Hand-shaped, these beads were then heated so as to produce the intense colors; all have been hand drilled, with the resulting funnel shaped hole evident in each bead.
Strung on nylon thread, the strand can be worn as such or the beads could be incorporated into your own creation!
Sizes range from 2 mm to 33 mm in length and 8 mm to 15 mm in width.
Good condition with some small nicks, normal for beads of such great age.
Excellent patina – Collected in Mali.
