A variety of beads made their way along the ancient caravan routes that crossed Mali.
Faience is a glazed non-clay ceramic material with quartz as its main component.
The Egyptians developed faience, some 5000 years ago, to imitate precious stones such as turquoise, lapis lazuli, jade, etc.
Dating to the 1200-1600s, good condition with authentic wear and patina.
Two beads with small chips at one end.
Collected in Mali.
