This type of Tuareg hair amulet adornment or pendant, is known as tanfouk or talhakimt.
Composed of a silver alloy with a green glass insert, talhakimt are valued by Tuareg women as powerful talismans. 
They are worn in the hair and believed to possess the power to avert the “evil eye” .
Rich patina, mid to late 20th century – Collected in Niger.
