The tanfouk or agate stone is a powerful amulet.
This outstanding Tuareg ring or tisek is worn for special ceremonies as a ring or pendant.
Believed to possess healing powers and, the agate will also avert the evil eye.
Cut from from Brazilian agate, the stone bears the hallmarks of the Idar-Oberstein workshops.
The agate is in excellent condition and the stone shines.
Gentle usage patina, mid 20th century – Collected in Mali.
