Large Bambara tegere wood clappers.
Tegere are a percussion instrument, used by the Bambara and Bozo ethnic groups and accompanies traditional dances.
One tegere has impressive Bambara female figure, the other with a stylised serpent and elaborate geometric patterns.
Social events are in an ambiance of dance, music and chant, with various types of instruments accompanying such celebrations.

Collected in the region of Segou, Mali.
