Description

Koranic script fills the tabloid face of this Tuareg silver amulet ring from Mali. 
The hand-etched script is laid out in in a grid of 16 squares; sides of the ring are highlighted with a linear design.
Such amulet rings are intended to protect the wearer from life misfortunes and to bring luck, as the script conceals a magical formula prepared by the Marabout. 
The flat magic grid measures 1,8 x 2,2 cm (12/16 x 3/4″)
Gentle patina, late 20th century – Collected in Mali.
